Swedish youngster signs long-term deal as Rosengård continue their investment in young talent

FC Rosengård have completed the signing of Thea Staffansson from Eskilsminne IF, with the young Swedish midfielder signing a contract until 30 June 2029.
Staffansson, originally from Halmstad, was born in 2007 and now becomes part of FC Rosengård’s long-term project as the club looks to climb towards the top of the OBOS Damallsvenskan.
A Long-Term Investment
Rosengård have clearly identified Staffansson as a player for the future.
The midfielder arrives from Eskilsminne IF after developing through the Swedish football system and gaining experience with the country’s youth national teams.
Her contract through 2029 gives the club plenty of time to develop the youngster and integrate her into their first-team plans.
For Staffansson, the transfer represents an exciting step forward in her career.
“It felt super exciting when this opportunity came up. It will be an exciting and fun step in my career. I look forward to being part of a journey towards the top of the OBOS Damallsvenskan.”
What Type of Player Is Staffansson?
Staffansson describes herself as a midfielder with strong game intelligence who is comfortable using both her right and left foot.
She also highlighted her willingness to defend and her competitive mentality.
“I would describe myself as a player with good game intelligence who can use both my right and left foot. I like defending and I love winning!”
Those qualities appear to have impressed Rosengård’s sporting department.
Caroline Seger: “A Very Mature Player for Her Age”
FC Rosengård football director Caroline Seger believes Staffansson possesses an unusually high level of maturity for a player of her age.
Seger particularly highlighted her ability to understand the game from central midfield.
“Thea has played many youth internationals and is a very mature player for her age. Her fine game intelligence comes to its best on the central midfield. She is secure with the ball and good at controlling the game.”
The comments suggest Rosengård see Staffansson primarily as a player capable of influencing matches from the centre of the pitch.
Her ability to control possession, read the game and contribute defensively could make her an interesting player to follow as she develops.
Familiar Faces at Rosengård
Staffansson will not be entering completely unfamiliar surroundings.
She already knows several of her new teammates from the Swedish youth national teams, including Saga Andersson, Saga Kristell, Alice Enehov and Filippa Sjöström.
That existing familiarity could help the young midfielder settle into her new environment.
Staffansson also spoke positively about Rosengård’s values, highlighting the club’s commitment to equality and women’s rights as an important factor for her.

Why This Could Be an Important Move
Staffansson’s move is another example of a young Swedish player taking an important step into a more demanding first-team environment.
At her age, regular exposure to senior football and training alongside experienced players could be crucial to her development.
Rosengård’s decision to give her a contract until 2029 also indicates that the club are thinking beyond the immediate season.
The challenge now will be turning her promising qualities into consistent senior performances.
Transfer Tribune Verdict
This is definitely a player to keep an eye on.
Staffansson has already attracted attention through her youth international experience, but what makes this move particularly interesting is the description of her as a mature, intelligent and technically secure midfielder.
At just 19, she now has the opportunity to develop within a club that clearly sees her as part of its long-term plans.
If she can translate her strong understanding of the game into regular senior football, Rosengård may have secured a very exciting talent for the future.
