Colombian international returns to Europe with Serie A Femminile move
ACF Fiorentina have announced the signing of Colombian international forward Ivonne Chacón from Chicago Stars.
The 28-year-old attacker has signed a contract with the Italian club until 30 June 2028, returning to European football after her latest spell in the NWSL.
From Colombia to Europe
Chacón began her professional career in Colombia, where she represented Santa Fe before moving to Millonarios.
In 2022, she took the next major step in her career by moving to Europe.
The forward spent time in Spain with Valencia and Levante, gaining valuable experience in one of Europe’s established women’s football environments.
NWSL Experience
After her time in Spain, Chacón returned across the Atlantic to continue her career in the United States.
She joined the NWSL, most recently representing Chicago Stars during the previous season.
That experience added another different footballing environment to her career before Fiorentina came calling.
Colombia International
Chacón has represented the Colombia women’s national team since 2022.
One of the highlights of her international career came in 2023, when she was part of Colombia’s squad at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
She now returns to Europe with further international and NWSL experience behind her.
A New Chapter in Italy
The move to Fiorentina gives Chacón another opportunity to compete in European football, this time in Serie A Femminile.
Her experience in Colombia, Spain, the United States and with the Colombian national team gives her an interesting background as she begins her latest chapter in Italy.
